City of Toronto All Events http://ift.tt/1xbqrl3 Since 2008, the Mexican Community prepares to celebrate the Day of the Dead in a traditional way and this year will not be the exception. Musicians, Aztec dancers, traditional food, crafts, visual artists and actors will fill, once again, every corner of this event with the joy of centuries of Mexican history. The celebration of the Day of the Dead dates back to pre-hispanic times were the ancient culture reflects humanity's fascination with the unknown and the intangible. Today we inherit a tradition based in rituals, ceremonies, altars, food, dances, music, poems, and much more. The living seek to maintain the bonds with loved ones who have departed to the next world, the "Mictlan", the underworld.
