11/08/2014 The Hitchcock 9: The Ring Southeast $10 - $19

City of Toronto All Events http://ift.tt/104wf4S The explosive hard-driving The Ring (1927), which was raved about by French New Wave masters Rohmer, Chabrol & Truffaut, is Hitchcock's only original screenplay. Eschewing crime & the fugitive theme, the film features an escalating love triangle between a fairground boxer, his lover & a boxing rival, with the characters caught in a paradoxical tug of war of love and career. Modern day audiences need only to view the stunning montages and ingenious use of dissolve, the classic cinematic transition of time and place that has since become widely used, to appreciate the pioneering qualities of his work. This screening will utilize the BFI-commissioned recording of a new score.
