Where to Stay:
Stay up in owen sound or kincardine before u get up to the tip there.
Trip Plan:
30mis from Cyprus Lake parking lot to reach Indian head cove. .
Drove up early on Saturday morning. Went on the Flowerpot Island cruise. Hiked for about 1.5 hours on the island. Went back to the mainland to check in to our hotel (we stayed at the Princess Hotel, one of the few places without a 2 night minimum). Drove to the Bruce Peninsula National Park - Cyprus Lake parking lot. Hiked for about 2 hours to see the Grotto and Indian Head Cove.
Will go back again, loved it!!!

Would love to check this place out next long weekend, was hoping RFD could help me with planning an itinerary. Thinking about a 3 night stay.
Perhaps spend a day canoeing/hiking, taking in the sights. We're photographers so we love beautiful scenery. Snorkelling to check out the shipwrecks. Swimming in the grotto. :D
Thinking about staying a night at Manitoulin Island; we want to see the milky way away from the city! If we could catch a meteor shower that'd be even better!
We're not super outdoorsy so we'd want to stay under a roof. Any tips/suggestions?
Explore the Bruce (http://www.explorethebruce.com/travel-kit.php) is great site to start your planning, it has some excellent resources to order or download (I received the guidebook, Grey Bruce Escape, and maps for kayakaing, lighthouses and waterfalls).
Didn't do any kayaking, and the lighthouses didn't look particularly interesting, although Big Tub was worth the visit. The waterfall map was the best with GPS coordinates, and we ended up visiting 8 of the 10 waterfalls. If you don't have time for that many, I'd recommend Inglis, Jones and Hoggs Falls.
For the Grotto, you might want to get to Cypress Lake campsite early because they have limited visitors parking. It's roughly 30-45 minute hike depending where you start (I camped at the site furthest away).
For great sunsets, you want to be on the Lake Huron side, Singing Sands Beach or Sauble Beach. Singing Sands is the less busy of the two, and you can wade 200 metres and still be only ankle deep in water. Sauble is roughly an hour drive from Tobermory, but has more dining options. I enjoyed both, but preferred Sauble more.
We took a jet boat (http://blueheronco.com/boat-cruises.html) to see the ship wrecks and Flowerpot Island, which is definitely worth a visit. If you are going to snorkel around the shipwrecks, you can take a jet boat directly to the island. If you want to include a tour of the shipwrecks, you can take a longer cruise in a glass-bottom boat. The advantage of the jet boat over the glass-bottom boat is time and less hassle (glass-bottom boat requires switching to jet boat to offload passengers at the island). You need only 2 hours to hike the island providing you don't do the inner mountain trail (which most people skip).
There is a Visitor Centre with a tower that will give you a panorama view of Tobermory (you can see both Flowerpot and Manitoulin Island). There is a fee, but is free if you did Flowerpot Island. Didn't think the view was worth the walk up the tower though.
Didn't get a chance to go to Manitoulin Island, but here is the ferry (http://www.ontarioferries.com/ontarioferries/english/index.html)info.

For Bruce Peninsula NP...
Georgian Bay-Marr Lake Trail
Round Trip Length: 1.9 miles
Trailhead location: From highway 6, turn onto Cyprus Lake Road and drive to the end of the road, then park at the Head of Trails area
Level of Difficulty: Moderate
Attractions: A loop trail that combines both forest and shoreline scenery. The shoreline is difficult to walk on because it is covered with white rocks and boulders which makes it easy to lose one's footing. Views of Horse Lake and Marr Lake can be seen along the way
Recommended Points of Interest:
Indian Head Cove & The Grotto; Overhanging Point; Halfway Rock Point; Cyprus Lake; The Bruce Trail (from Indian Head Cove to Little Cove); Singing Sands Day-use Area; Halfway Log Dump
The kilometre of trail from Halfway Rock Point to Overhanging Point is referred to in the Bruce Trail guidebook as the most spectacular part of the entire Bruce Trail.
Another photographic gem within the Bruce Peninsula National Park, just one kilometre from the day-parking area, is the beautiful Indian Head Cove and the infamous Grotto, where visitors will discover a huge cave formation with a deep pool of Georgian Bay water as its floor
Beaver statue, the Groundhog statue is much more popular
