City of Toronto All Events http://ift.tt/1uLXO0k Our 1st short film: Rosies of the North From the NFB ... "Sixty years ago, thousands of women from Thunder Bay and the Prairies donned trousers, packed lunch pails and took up rivet guns to participate in the greatest industrial war effort in Canadian history. . . . Fort William's Canadian Car and Foundry was transformed from an all-male workforce to one with forty percent female workers." Our second short film: The Lost Garden: The Life and Cinema of Alice Guy-Blaché From the NFB ... "Guy-Blaché made her first film at the end of the last century, when cinema was still brand-new. After directing, producing and writing more than 700 films, she slipped into oblivion. This film rescues her brave and shining memory."
