City of Toronto All Events http://ift.tt/1TfehRQ The Thompson Landry Gallery is extremely proud to present WOMB, a dynamic new solo exhibition, presenting 40 new works by multi-disciplinary artist Marie-Josée Roy. Within her subject's grey chrysalis, the artist masterfully depicts their struggle to emerge from being bound by metal, leaving behind their protective cocoons. Roy's figures metamorphosize into magnificent metallic human-butterflies. Continuing her long-lasting dialogue with industrial aluminium and steel, Roy plays on the strength of her chosen medium, using its permanence to depict the transitory nature of existence. Seemingly as light as a feather, her works illustrate life as movement, in the process, sculpting the genesis of mankind.
