08/30/2015 Summer Music in the Garden presents "Silk and Bamboo" Downtown Free

City of Toronto All Events http://ift.tt/1UWumiw The Silk String Trio weaves a colourful tapestry of Chinese music from village and court, from the Qing Dynasty to the recent era. The Trio is comprised of three Toronto-based virtuosi of Chinese stringed instruments: Wen Zhao (pipa/lute), Ziwen Qin (guzheng/zither) and Di Zhang (yangqin/dulcimer). Together they interweave Chinese music across centuries, from the Qing Dynasty to the recent era; across regions, from the spirited music found along the Yellow River in Northern China to the traditional Southern Chinese music known as Silk and Bamboo; and across classes, from village folk tunes to court music from the Forbidden City. Enjoy this free concert and many more during the Harbourfront Centre's Summer Music in the Garden series.
