City of Toronto All Events http://ift.tt/28jgarv Following the success of its premiere performance in 2015, we are thrilled to be remounting Oyan!/Awakening, an international collaboration between Sashar Zarif and legendary composer/pianist Franghiz Alizadeh. A mystical journey portraying man's spiritual ascent through body, mind and emotions, Oyan!/Awakening is an innovative investigation of Mugham, a devotional integrated practice of poetry, music and dance, in a contemporary context. This international multi-disciplinary collaboration facilitates an encounter between remembering, perceiving, and imagining in time and space. Azerbaijani musicians Elnur Mikhayilov and Mughamist Mirelem Mirelemov will once again join Zarif for this special repeat performance.
