City of Toronto All Events http://ift.tt/1Kln9Wk This exhibition focuses landscapes painted in the countryside surrounding Toronto and abroad. Without pushing for any look or approach, what I'm after with these works is a sense of immediacy and familiarity—the experience of time, atmosphere and place. These aspects of the paintings became all the more relevant, realizing that many of these fields and forests were being cleared for new subdivisions. This impermanency has added a more contemporary perspective to the subject of landscape, set against the backdrop of urban sprawl.
