The book provides a personal, intimate account of Chinese individuals in the process of migration. Ma approaches the question as to why Chinese people choose to immigrate through the true story of Ye Pei, a young Chinese woman who immigrates to Italy in hopes of reuniting with her mother and providing her family with a better future.
